Candidate for Executive Vice President
I’m Maria Silvester, current Vice President of C&T and a proud union member for the past eight years. As a Contracting Officer with a $100 million warrant, I bring experience in negotiation, accountability, and results. I’ve successfully mediated grievances and stood up for members when it mattered most. I regularly fight for justice by attending rallies and marches in support of “We the People”.
If elected Executive Vice President, I will work to restore trust in our leadership through communication, transparency, and inclusion. My union roots run deep; my uncle was referred to as a union rabble-rouser and became one of the founders of the Scranton Local of the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU). I was raised in a union household- my mother served as a president of her teachers union and my husband was a representative in his local with CWA—and I’m deeply committed to union values.
Outside of work, I enjoy mountain biking and going to the gym- staying strong in every sense of the word.
